Party House Ordinance

The Homeowners Association is working to reduce this party house problem, and each affected neighbor must help. Below are action steps that have helped reduce or eliminate some of the party activity.

1. Always call 877-ASK-LAPD. It's important to create a record of calling. If you feel up to it, ask to speak with the supervisor at the scene after the LAPD has responded. This all takes patience because the wait times for calling in can be long, especially Thursday through Saturday as we are part of the busy Hollywood Division. It is essential, however, because the LAPD detectives and City Attorney pull the call records to see how often the nuisance occurs.

2. Encourage your affected neighbors to call the disturbance to the LAPD. They respond to 3 or more calls from a neighborhood much more promptly. Let the neighbors around the nuisance know that you won't tolerate someone degrading our quality of life, quiet enjoyment of our property by hosting intrusive commercial events. Ask helpful neighbors to cooperate to capture the evidence needed to demonstrate that a property is a nuisance. The LAPD has been generous with their time, but they have finite resources, so we need to do our part. 2 Take pictures of the crowds coming and going. Take video and sound recordings to capture noise. Make sure these files are all date stamped or add a tail or header to the videos with the date and time of the recording, so LAPD has something to work with when they create a timeline of a repeated nuisance. Send these files to the MOPOA President, [email protected] with an email subject referring to the address of the offending property. We will collect these images and videos and provide access to them by LAPD and the City Attorney.

3. If you find social media advertisements for parties at a Mt. Olympus residence, clip them and send them also to the email address above with a subject identifying the address of the property at issue. These clips can be correlated with pictures and videos to establish that the event was a commercial, advertised event.

4. If you find Airbnb, VRBO and other rental advertisements showing a Mt. Olympus property advertised as "perfect for large events", "great for parties" or anything similar, clip these and send copies.
